At each electoral round we, Italians residing abroad, find ourselves having to face numerous problems related to voting by mail.

Packages that do not arrive, others that are lost, others that arrive incomplete, still others that arrive double.

In short ... a real farce in which we are NO longer willing to participate!

Voting abroad, as it is now structured, violates the essential voting requirements guaranteed by art. 48 of the Italian Constitution which states:

"The vote is personal and equal, free and secret."

Abroad, none of these requirements are guaranteed, making our will easily manipulated.

In these hours we are discussing electoral law and, for this reason, WE ASK THAT THE VOTING METHOD FOR ITALIANS ABROAD IS URGENTLY REVISED.

Various solutions have already been studied, also taking advantage of experiences already tested in other countries and some pdl already lie in some drawer of some parliamentary commission: from voting at fixed seats in Italian structures abroad (embassies, consulates, etc.) up to practical, economical and ecological electronic voting.

We citizens residing abroad therefore ask the competent parliamentary committees to study the various options possible today and to propose as soon as possible an alternative solution to voting by correspondence that guarantees compliance with art. 48 of the Italian Constitution .
